Bambanani expands disabled care

Bambanani expands disabled care

15 May 2019

Besides young children, disabled people form a highly vulnerable group in South-Africa. Because they are often banished from the townships or ‘hidden’ are at home, Bambanani provides specialized day care and education. We are therefore very pleased that we can expand this care starting today. Besides Phurulenke Ability Center Masishimale, we now take the Thabelang disabled center in Namagkale under our care.

The daycare provides a loving home to 56 physical examination and mental disabilities. Principal Malongani Mavis and her team operate under relatively primitive conditions. There is so much to gain! Firstly, the current construction needs renovation and renewal. But the food- and water supply, plumbing and vegetable garden need attention, like the education itself. In addition, there is a lot of synergy possible with Phurulenke; teams can fully learn from each other. Bambanani will take the facilitating role.

In short, a lot of challenges, but with the help of loyal ambassadors Lili van Rhijn and Wouter de Vries in this project success will come.
